Foundations of Christian Chaplaincy introduces students to the calling, purpose, and biblical foundation of Christian chaplaincy. This course examines how chaplains provide Christ-centered spiritual care to people facing crisis, grief, illness, loneliness, uncertainty, and other difficult circumstances.

Students will explore the role and responsibilities of a Christian chaplain, including compassionate listening, prayer, confidentiality, ethical conduct, appropriate boundaries, accountability, and respectful service. The course also explains what a chaplain is—and what a chaplain is not—so students can serve faithfully without exceeding their training, authority or professional role.

By the end of the course, students should have a clear understanding of Christian chaplaincy and be better prepared to discern whether God is calling them to this ministry.
